Every now and then as a young adult (yes--25 still counts as "young adult" in my book) you still feel like you're invincible. Cancer? Hell no. I'm not gonna get cancer. Heart disease? No way. It's been months since I've had a Big Mac. A regular monthly checkup? Nah, it's just a waste of time. I'm fine. Just don't get too crazy when you're ( Read more... )

Thanks for the kind words, Miss Ellica. :)

It WAS scary...but I'm so grateful it wasn't something worse. It sounds really cliche, but it's amazing how easy it is to take your health for granted.

You're absolutely right everyone SHOULD have health care... the US is the only "civilized" natino in the world that doesn't have it for every single citizen.

Wish I did have it... especially since I know I have cancer (ok, only 95% sure, but if not cancer... umm... well, whatever it is... it's definitely something) and I really want to get it checked out... CURED even.

It's funny, I had health insurance all the time up until this year and jsut slacked.

Now, if I get it again (probably not until around the end of the year, but I will) I will immediately get a full checkup.

However, no matter how much we NEED health insurance... there is no way I can afford it without a job paying for it. And so I will not get it until then. And if something very bad happens... I will go to the hospital, get treated, and then duck out on the bill.

Like I did at Burning Man (and I even HAD health insurance there, but HI doesn't pay squat for LifeFlight).
