Awesome, so glad to hear you feel the intensity of BTS... even if it took so long ;)

Was it a big show or more of a small venue? I hope it was small because all their small shows are much better, and generally Doug's singing sounds better.

Ennywhoo... they are definitely a band that can change views on a rock'n'roll show, so glad to hear you have started your trek.

The El Rey Theatre isn't necessarily the smallest venue, but it's definitely intimate. It's got thick red velvet on the walls, a small "floor", and a great big ol' chandalier. It's one of my most favorite venues in LA.

Have you seen BTS live many times?

Oh lordie I have seen BTS more times than I can count... but what with growing up in and around Portland, and living in Seattle for a few years, that's to be expected.

I must admit I was most shocked to hear you hadn't heard of them before now, what with all your other coolio musical stylings (they're kind of the de rigour indie rawk band for most kids up here...)

but hey, I guess being in Cali has gotta screw you up in some way (heh, had to get some of my northwesterner cali-slams on.... no fear tho, good people come out of slick towns too).

gettin' those northwesterner cali-slams on... rockingrrrl June 16 2001, 23:51:40 UTC
I know, I know...lucky, LUCKY you to have had the pleasure of residing in BOTH Portland AND Seattle!

It's practically a crime that I hadn't listened to BTS earlier, but I'm grateful for the 2 years I've got under my belt. I guess in a way it's sorta good, 'cause to me they're not quite so old school yet, and I can gush over them like a pre-teen does over the newest edition of Bop.

BTS memories... jamessqueaky June 15 2001, 00:39:20 UTC
That was a really sweet entry and I can totally relate to your feelings about the band. I love BTS quite a lot too and remember back in around May of 1995, I saw them (I believe There's Nothing Wrong with Love had just come out). It had been a really shitty year and I went with my girlfriend at the time who was leaving for Europe to spend a year the very next day. So, we went to the show and it was such an intense night. The band was amazing and will always be associated with the sadness of saying goodbye to her. It was at a tiny venue in Boulder, co. I was really inspired by a lot of things all at once and with her leaving, a few weeks later I moved to San Francisco to start a new life ( ... )

How emo... rockingrrrl June 15 2001, 15:52:23 UTC
Awww...that's a really sweet story. I do the same thing, I associate times and events in my life with music all the time. I think it's kinda neat-o that way.

People probably think I go a little overboard sometimes with my gushing and ramblings about bands & music. I'm glad you could relate... :)

Stop the Show was really good tonight, of course, and it was nice hearing the other PFNO songs (Made-Up Dreams, Randy, Velvet Waltz - 1st time for me), but overall it was somewhat disappointing. But I qualify that with saying that it was my 7th show. And I did get to see several old songs (The First Song, One Thing, Terrible/Perfect) that I had never seen live before. But I really wanted to hear some new songs... even just a few... but they only played ONE. Grr. And it was the one I'd seen before already. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, though. It probably didn't help that I was (still am) up since 6:45am.

Anyway, I posted this here because I didn't feel like writing out my own entry on tonight's show, especially when I don't think too many BTS fans actually read my journal.

Hey Kerry!

Sorry the show was less than spectatular for you...but like you said, you've seen 'em 7 times.

I am LAGGING...haven't picked up the new album, did you get it yet?

p.s. Email me your address again. I wanted to surprise ya, but I've got some tapes I'm making for you, 'cause some of this new music I got is just TOO good for you not to have. :)
