my friend david made a documentary about neil diamond impersonators/tribute bands. it's called "feel neil". so far it's been shown i think at the toronto film festival and the atlanta film festival, and will probably continue on the film fest circuit. but he interviews super diamond in the film. they play their version of "sweet caroline" where they morph into guns n' roses' "sweet child o' mine" at the end. it rules.
oh, and when the final credits are rolling, he plays that gap commercial with will ferrell as neil, where he sings "forever in blue jeans". i hope the film takes off and ends up getting distributed. it deserves to be seen.
That honestly sounds like the greatest documentary EVER. I'd love to get a chance to see it. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled to see if it shows at any local film fests.
I hate the fact that documentaries are so inaccessible sometimes. But then again, it's also the exciting thing about them, too. When you find an awesome one that no one has heard of, it's like being in on a sweet little secret. A few years ago, I saw a film called "Karaoke Fever" that is just too amazing for words. I contacted the directors to see if they would be releasing it on Video/DVD, but no such luck yet...
