Man. I really need to update this thing and give a full-on detailed account of my European escapade, but it's just so daunting. Of course, I had the most fabulous time ever. But one of the most stressful things about traveling is that frantic voice inside saying "Remember this!", "Record this!", "Don't forget about this!" and that feeling like ( Read more... )

Its tough to remember all that stuff. Somehow, when i spent 5 months in London, i managed to write in a journal (a real one! not computer!) every single day.

what cities did you hit?

Ahhh, London. I'm jealous! One day, after I hit the lottery because it's so goddamned expensive there, I hope to visit. :)

My friends and I did buy a paper journal and we did write day-to-day accounts of what had passed on the plane ride home. It was fun and reading their words (and by them reading mine) helped to remember even more funny and meaningful details about the day. I want to do my own account though just because I really feel I should.

We had a fab time---after landing in Paris, we hopped right in the car and drove 6 hours to Germany to visit friends. We hit Freiburg, Mannheim, Heidelberg and Koln. Then we all took the big road trip to Amsterdam. We hit Brussels on our way back to France to get a REAL Belgian waffle and chocolate, and then we spent our last 6 days in Paris.

Whew! :)

Exactly... at first I was whipping out the camera a bunch... but as I guessed before, quickly got sick of it... and just set up short times each day where I'd take some pictures... then just enjoy myself and actually INTERACT with the culture I was amongst the rest of the time. And you know... those pictures, whilenot of the memories I hold dearest... instantly send me back to that place. Association y'know? I know you had a blast, so I won't bother saying I hope you did. ;)

EXACTLY. I just started telling myself that the real memories to be made were the ones I'd have interacting with the people---and because we spent the first half of the trip with our German friends, it was really great just to go to the cool spots they frequent and absorb the culture. I also made some awesome new friends! I really hope my pictures turned out decent though!

Where did you go in Europe?
