Random Reactions to Various Things I've Seen Lately

1. I feel kind of guilty about expressing my discomfort with the We Need Diverse Books campaign in the past. I want to make it clear that my discomfort is COMPLETELY PERSONAL, not ideological. I never want to give anyone the impression that I think it's "reverse racism" or unfair to me as a really-boringly-undiverse writer in any way people have ( Read more... )

Carl doesn't care about Civil War either, but he might come along, just because I'm planning on going with friends and he doesn't want to miss out on the fun friend outing (and because otherwise he's stuck at home with the kids!). Luckily we have enough people around here willing to babysit our two for a couple of hours.

As you likely gathered from my sputter-y Twitter responses, I am also really incensed by the way Agent Carter has been treated. They refused to market it, shoved it in a terrible time slot, skipped occasional nights due to politics taking over the screen time, and then said, "oh, it didn't perform well enough for us to justify keeping it on." It was the BEST SHOW on tv, the only show I actually cared enough to watch in real time instead of waiting until season's end for it to show on Netflix (ahem, AoS), and they smugly canceled it because they couldn't see past the ends of their noses. /endrant

This once again demonstrates the difference between people I know online and the general public, as the Internet made me feel like the only one in the world who DIDN'T watch Agent Carter. I always wanted to, but I kept forgetting, and would have preferred to start from the beginning anyway.

That's another thing the network/company did wrong with it, they didn't put it on Netflix or otherwise make the whole seasons available at once for people to catch up on, and for a very serial story, that killed a lot of potential viewers! I hope you do get to find the whole thing eventually, it's quite a treat. But right, it's my favorite show, so of course I think so.
