"Aren't you just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
She stood opposite him, her arms crossed over her chest. She hadn't been sure. In fact, it had taken her about ten minutes of some serious staring before figuring it out. She let her arms drop at her sides as she looked him up and down one more time, this one for fun.
"Merlin, who knew you had such nice legs, Smith," she added as she tried to stifle her laughter.
Though he wasn't one for it, Zacharias kind of wanted to run. Instead, even as he could feel himself, honest to Merlin, blushing, he rallied. He tried to find a smirk from somewhere deep down and shrugged.
"Don't sound so shocked. I have nice everything. I even make whatever-the-hell kind of dress this is work. You should be jealous."
"I'm seething with envy as we speak," she told him.
The look on her face said otherwise. Her eyes sparkled as she continued to hold back her laughter. She rubbed at her nose, an itch, and then turned her shoulder slightly toward him.
"Is this something you do..." she trailed off before smirking. "Often?"
Normally, he would have popped his collar or something. As it were, his only real option was to fidget with the coffee he had in a carrier. He was used to improvising.
Zacharias raised an eyebrow, transferred the drinks from his right hand to left, and shuffled a little in those ridiculous shoes.
"Yes," he told her as earnestly as he could. "Every New Year's Day, I walk around in bad drag and keep a running tally of the reactions."
