After that last post, that would be a no-brainer, but I failed to mention that I have no intention of maintaining the status quo. This is the right question, though, and it's a question I would have to ask my boss. Do I even want to ask him, though? What I'm really trying to decide is whether to even give them the opportunity to keep me around, or

Sounds to me like you dislike your current job and workplace situation so much that no amount of money or varied responsibilities will make you happy there. Changing jobs is always scary and a bit of a risk. However, it could be worth it. Even if you end up hating the new job just as much as your current one, you will be making more money in the process. You will also have new items to add to your resume if you decide you want to move on in a year.

Best case scenario, you will love your new job and get along much better with your new co-workers than with your current ones. And you will still be making the additional money.
