I read an article recently about weather or not money can buy happiness. Apparently it all depends on what you DO with the money. People who spend it on things for themselves are less likely to be happy than people who spend the money on others. I think that the research referred to in the article was with amounts of only $5. The researchers gave $5 each to 200 people or something like that. They told some to spend it on themselves, some to spend it on others, and some to just keep it. At the end of the day, they re-assessed everyone's happiness. The group that spent the money on others were much happier than the other two.
I've had to remind myself about this concept every now and then. Sometimes when I'm feeling down, I go give money to Mazon or Global Soap. Occasionally, when my schedule permits, I volunteer my time to help. Usually just with handing out trophies or medals at the local TeaKwanDo event for gb crush's schools. (That's where I'll be this Saturday).
