Counting Down

I'm counting down the days till January... not that I don't love the holidays or the seasonal business boom, but I need Need NEED to focus major time to the website and developing new designs. I've got a sketchbook full of new pieces I want to make and though I've started some, I just can't seem to bundle enough spare moments to finish anything. ( Read more... )

Yup, I sure do. Every single item except for the ReSale pieces. The pendants are all original, each bead and jump ring is hand linked, strung, fabricated... this is why I'm dying to quit the day job :)

I do use a very small family owned company for my actual castings (though I carve the prototypes myself) since the lost wax process uses very expensive and large machinery. I'm not even allowed to have that equipment in my personal studio because the landlord is worried that I will blow up the building.

Lol, well lots of different techniques which took years of study. I primarily use lost wax casting techniques, carving in wax, then making a negative in plaster fired in a kiln, then pouring molten silver into the plaster portion... then you "clean and finish" each piece by filing, polishing, dremeling, etc...

It's a pretty intense process but after you spend 20 hours on the prototype, you can make a mold and skip that first step. The rest is metalsmithing and beading.

Lol, well nothing is going to change quite yet... and any images or bannery things could be used in many places. I also have printed material and such, so if you make anything - do not fear - it will be used and greatly appreciated!
