So, in theory, how long does a person have to look like ass before her bangs grow out? I've kind of even lost sight of why I'm doing this. Bangs - I've had them forever.
I had bangs once a few years ago. I knew right away that it was a mistake. They were longish bangs to begin with, but from the time I got them cut in the first place until they grew out to shoulder length and I got everything cut to the same length again, it was about 6 or 7 months. I had to wear headbands a lot while they were growing out.
I agree with AngelChicken. Go for it! If you really hate it, getting bangs again is quick and easy.
I am going to persevere as I'm almost 2 months into the growing out. But I think I'm going to set a limit. I stopped cutting them after my party and I will try to refrain until my rescheduled party in April. If by then I still can't stand it, I'm breaking out the scissors.
The last time I had bangs was in eighth grade. There are some pretty hideous pictures of me in Russia that year with too-long bangs and braces. The experience of growing them out -- documented in those pictures -- convinced me to never, ever have bangs again. It's like how people who quit smoking don't want to start again just so they don't have to go through quitting a second time.
I wish I could offer some suggestions but I believe the way I dealt with the bangs was thick '70s style headbands and scrunchies on the top of my head, both of which were actually acceptable styles at the time. Yech.
I think the problem is that I don't pull my hair back normally because a headband or barrette could be a solution. It's just that when I do I'm all "Ack! Giant scary face!"
