Reccer's notes: There are so many wonderful things about this fic that choosing a starting point is tough. The structure is what pulls you in at first, a series of vignettes, little glimpses as Sam and Dean blow from town to town, the push and pull of life in perpetual motion.  It's amazingly well written, with surprising turns of phrase, language that is lyrical and at the same time gritty and grounded.  The author really nails Sam here, who is equal parts quiet contemplation and desperation. This is my favorite type of love story, one that sneaks up slowly but inevitably.

[Short excerpt]In Kansas, he makes Dean pull over. Broad fields on either side, the horizon curving away in the distance. He leans against a gate and watches a sunset. There are shades of green in the sky, surreal bands of absurd color, and he doesn't remember seeing that before. Always something new, something beautiful. To see, to learn. He watches Dean out of the corner of his eye, lounging against the Impala, trying to look impatient but not really minding; indulging Sam. He wonders how much there is to learn about Dean, which colors he's not seen yet.

He wants to see every single shade.
