Reccer's notes: This fic is an achingly gorgeous postseries AU where the apocalypse that wasn't happened very differently. A wonderful narration of the boys' effect on the world and what their ultimate legacy is, the ending packs a real punch. This fic has stayed with me since I read it way back in 2009, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
