a lot of people seem to be confused about sylar's ability, and the relationship that i might have with peter's ability. i am finding a lot of interest in this and trying to come up with an explanation has not been that easy, but here is my view on the subject

it was actually HRG that said that sylar had the power to transfer abilities from one person to the other, so in a way this makes me believe that he can as you said, take and give abilities, which applies to my theory that he is the catalyst and not claire. sure, claire is different and she is special in her own way and sylar saw that, but sylar is in fact unique, specially if this side of his power of giving ability actually comes to be.

i doubt that arthur is being all nice to gabriel because he is his son, but because he sees something special in him, something unique that can be of use to him. if sylar has the ability to transfer abilities, means that he could give abilities to anyone making him the perfect catalyst for the ormmula, don't you think?

it's funny that you mentioned that about peter, and how sylar could end up restoring his power, which is something that i posted a while ago in a sylar forum, and i completely agree with you. of course, we will never know or certain until we see this happen
