Perhaps this goes for all ovens. Perhaps my oven has personality. Be warned that when you want the oven to self-clean, you're in it for the long haul. It takes about four hours for it to complete, and it can't really be left alone because it's toasting all that crud off the bottom. It will lock up, so there's NO TURNING BACK once you decide to self

When I lived in my apartment, I couldn't even run the oven without setting off my smoke alarm. So it was off no matter what. But then, I didn't have a self-cleaning oven. :P
