Name: David Gilmour
Age: 24
Condition: Delusional Disorder, Unspecified Type
Family History
David is the illegitimate son of Werner Godfrey and Jillia Gilmour. He has two stepbrothers: Bruno and Konrad Godfrey. Bruno Godfrey is the only relative known to be diagnosed with a psychiatric illness. No significant medical or behavioral issues were noted prior to adolescence.
General History (as noted by his prior doctor)
David was raised solely by his mother, though he was aware of who his father and the other Godfreys were. He was exposed to the Godfrey family on a semi-regular basis so as to maintain family ties between himself and his father's side of the family, but he was never really entirely welcome. David's existence was a matter of shame, after all, a reminder of something everyone would rather forget. Though these feelings were hovering above every interaction between these families, the Godfreys were nothing but polite and cordial when he should visit.
These visits were always customary, a matter verging closer to obligation than filial desire. However, around high school, David began visiting the Godfreys far more frequently than he used to. Something happened in which David decided he didn't want to simply be regarded as "some member of the family." He began making efforts to try and befriend both Bruno and Konrad Godfrey, who regarded him with the polite, patient manner one would use on a stranger. They assumed he was just trying to be friendly.
There was more to it than that. David desperately wished to be a part of the Godfrey family. The obvious wall between himself and the rest of the family was perceived as rejection, he being nothing but the disposable child no one wanted due to circumstances he'd never had control of. He began to despise his mother for making him an outcast.
These negative feelings surrounding his identity and his birth began to take a sick turn for the worse as he got older. Overwhelmed in this sense of seclusion he had given himself, he began to reject himself and his mother, showing up at the Godfrey house at a nearly daily basis. He had become delusional and had convinced himself that he actually was a member of the Godfreys rather than the Gilmours. More specifically, he began to believe he was Konrad Godfrey.
David began acting like Konrad, going as far as imitating his style of dress and hairdo. Mirroring Konrad's rock star persona, David would sometimes spend hours on the Godfrey's front lawn, playing guitar and singing for his "concerts," which would sometimes go into the evening. He would invade Konrad's room, insisting it was his. They would sometimes catch him on Konrad's motorcycle, trying to ride it without ignition and claiming it was "broken again." When the Godfreys tried changing the locks, David would either break in or call the police, claiming he'd "lost his keys."
The straw that broke the camel’s back, however, was when David suddenly began showing up at the law office Bruno and Konrad ran. Though the first few times they managed to get him to leave without trouble, an unfortunate incident where he confused a poor, newly hired intern cost the firm an important client and a large sum of money.
Treatment
David was sent to a private psychiatrist, Dr. *****, in the hopes of recovering with as little embarrassment to himself and the two families as possible. It was recommended that he stay away from the Godfreys until well after he’d recovered. For the safety of all affected, David’s therapy sessions became the only reason he left the house.
Though he’d been attending these sessions for several months and has cycled through several kinds of medications, no progress has been made. In fact, he seems to be worse and even more distraught. Dr. ***** suspected this was a result of not being around the Godfrey family for such an extended amount of time and recommended he be admitted to an institution before his distress resulted in tragedy.
Additional Note for Landel's Staff
Ms. Gilmour was not aware Bruno Godfrey had also been admitted into Landel's Institute until after David's admittance. She has requested that the staff be aware that David may follow and harass Mr. Godfrey. Please be sure to keep an eye on David's movements.
