Also I know your thinking about getting a used car but sometimes you can also get a really good deal on a new one especially right around presidents day. They always have tons and tons of deals.

Thanks! I'll look into CarMax! I think Jay wanted to stick with our local Ford dealership since they were the only place willing to sell to us when we bought his truck 5 years ago (no one would take us seriously/was willing to work with us money wise else where), but it's definitely worth looking around.

we bought a demo Chevy HHR. They knocked almost $3000 off because we paid in cash (literally, hubby went over there with a fat stack of hundreds), and it's technically brand new, with low mileage, and full warranty. We ended up getting it for about $5000 less than a brand new one, and it's good as new. We did have a problem with the engine, but because it's under warranty they replaced it free of charge and gave us a truck to drive until it was ready.

I'll remember the cash tip. We might not have enough money to pay in full, but I could definitely swing a full cash down payment when the time comes.
