When Netflix was just a DVD service my sweetie and I used to do that with the tv shows we got fairly frequently, watch multiple eps as if they were movies. In fact, that's the rule in my "tv watching" because I don't have cable tv. (My name is Earl., Nurse Jackie, Weeds, United States of Tara, Crossing Jordan, Bones 1-7, Parks and Rec s2-4.)
But when I read the question the two shows that really came to mind were Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Orphan Black. Both I watched by myself and simply could not stop watching them until I was done - btvs I gobbled the entire series within three weeks; S1 of OB I watched within a day or two.
WHY I loved them both is almost impossible to quantify. Female protagonists in untraditional roles, "chosen families" of friends and loved ones, rich characterizations, thematically provocative and terrific performancess.
I've just got S2 of OB on Amazon prime now and the only thing keeping me from a similar binge is a part-time job and my honey recuperating at
