I've finished another AOS story. "Forward Progress" is a Pike/Number One story and can be found here.

This is lovely. I'm in a happy Pike/Number One place currently (I wrote the same prompt) but I love seeing them interpreted in such different ways, by different authors. Have you thought about cross-posting it to pike_2009? There's such a dearth of Pike/Number One online, you'd reach a really receptive audience there.

Thank you! And now that I've finished working on my story, I've been reading and enjoying your two, "Skinned Knees and Second Chances" and "Mission Accomplished." Just lovely. I had wanted to explain why she wasn't in the movie; I like your interpretation that she *is* there, afterward, when he is recovering.

Thanks for the heads up about the Pike comm--I hadn't heard of them.

And last but not least, I love your icon.

Fandom was kicking up a fuss about the lack of Number One in the movie, so I decided in my head, clearly since Enterprise launched in 2258 instead of 2245, she was off being the captain of the Yorktown, this universe giving her a command a full decade or so ahead of the TOS 'verse. Because she's JUST THAT AWESOME.

I just love that finally we have a version fot hem two of them we can create bright new futures for. Pike's fate always bothered me, because I couldn't see him settling for a dream world with Vina. It just always felt like it went against the grain. He never seemed like a man who would be able to accept a fantasy world. He's too grounded in the real world.

This Pike is *very* grounded in reality. I definitely think he has a much better fate in the reboot universe. Of course it would have been great to have Number One in the movie (and I must say, your casting is inspired!) but then Spock and Kirk wouldn't have been able to step up to the plate. (Not that fandom needed any additional excuses to kick up a fuss over the movie, they certainly did that over every conceivable--and inconceivable--aspect). She is *so* busy off being an awesome captain in her own right.
