So sorry about the phone! It seems odd that they can't figure it out. I mean, how many ways are there for land lines to go bad? (I shouldn't ask; I probably don't want to know.)

This whole saga reminds me of the bad old days of phone service (for that matter, much of any customer service) in these parts. To give you an indication, the company name, with the substitution of a single letter, changes into a word which translates as "Damages". And yeah, this is a common pun, for obvious reasons.
