Well, that was a disturbing website. Who's Matt? Why has he put together a petition (other than it's horrible and needs to not happen)?

*shrugs* A re-make would not be horrible. In fact depending on the cast, I think that it could be pretty freaking awesome.

I don't know who owns the rights to the film or screenplay so I don't know if Richard O'Brien has any say in whether it should happen or not (which is perhaps different than saying he doesn't want to be involved.)

Ugh.

While I agree that the remake is a Very Bad Idea, a petition will not change the minds of MTV. In fact, if anything, it will make them want to do this even more, now that they know how loyal the fans are. Let's face it, we're going to watch it if it's made. They know we will.

Let's just mourn privately and hope that O'Brien at least makes some money off this.
