Oh my gosh you're so right, things were so much simpler way back when! The most important thing in my life was being able to hurry in time to catch an episode of Sailormoon and draw the characters. Getting a chance to glance at my first crush and quickly look away(cause God knows how shy I was...wait I'm still shy D:!), was the main event of my day at school. Life wasn't so violent, the news so depressing, school so stressful that people actually find themselves so depressed when it comes to assignments...10 years ago was just so much easier. It's a shame we can't seem to retain that simplicity, at least we have things that can bring back the memories. Heck most of my iPod's playlist is stuff from the 90's :D...now if you'll excuse me, I need to listen to some TLC! But before I leave, since we're talking about r&b...
Haha I've totally head this routine (not the shorties version though--at least I think it's "Shorties Watchin' Shorties"). This doesn't have to do with R&B but it's about music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fi7Y6MFWns. Eddie Izzard on musical instruments :)
Heh he's spot on with the kids playing instrument, always wanted to play the sax and every time I did my parents wanted me to burst out the John Coletrain D:!
I loved All That. When we first got cable TV back in the 90's, it was the one show we would always place a reminder on.
I can't say that my music taste was as "cool" back then. All though I did love my R&B (thanks to my two older brothers who I looked up to back then), I was more in to the boy bands.
And yes, things were simpler as a kid. No stressing about work, paying bills, what you're going to cook for dinner etc. I wish I could go back in time for a day and be a kid again just to not have to worry about all those things.
Welcome to Good Burger. Home of the good burger. Can I take your order?
And I can most definitely relate to the nostalgia when coming into contact with childhood favorites. Movies do it for me more than music. It hurts when you realize that the magic has disappeared from something that used to mean so much to you.
I actually think movies have gotten worse over the last few years on the whole. See how far they reach for Academy Awards nominees? I used to write movie reviews for my high school paper, not music reviews, but I'm with you: The average American attention span got shorter, the producers got lazier, and the movie magic I used to be able to count on ain't what it used to be.
All That was a really decent show. When I see stuff like iCarly and Drake and Josh and stuff...they're just trying to be as cool. BUT THEY NEVER WILL BE.
I think Amanda Bynes was/is a very funny and talented actress who ran the show, basically. The Amanda Show was pretty funny. :)
If I remember correctly Amanda rode the newer wave of All That. Watching her and the way-older Lori-Beth on the same screen was like watching a mother and her kid.
