My first thought after 1S would be 2NT showing minors. It doesn't show your strength, but nothing really shows your strength except making a lot of forcing bids.

Yeah, I considered bidding 2NT. But since my partner would just be taking a preference on the minors, it wasn't clear to me that I'd be able to get a real idea of what their length was. Maybe it would have worked better though. This way I got them to bid NT naturally, which probably tells me more: I know they probably like diamonds better.

We're playing lots of things. Reid and I are playing 2/1 this summer, but we're going to try to learn some sort of relay system for nationals in the fall. We like Magic Diamond a lot, but it's not ACBL legal. Mike and Alya are playing precision. We're diversifying. :-) Of course, none of us live in Random anymore...
