Life sucks sometimes... (message to Tina Chapel)

Research Station, Exo III

Roger sat back, frowning as he read his latest communique from the university. His research project was coming to an end, and after that misunderstanding with the station administrator's daughter, it was pretty much a given that he'd not be allowed to continue on here on Exo III once his project ended. It was hardly a fitting end to someone as renowned in his field as he was in his. Not just any monkey could marry two disciplines such as archeology and medicine and make a name for himself.

He needed a new hook, something to study, something that he'd have first chance to research.

And right now, the buzz was about the Enterprise. Roger had to get on board the Enterprise. Had to get on board, see what was really happening, look at the people who had come back, or come from different places, different dimensions, if the rumors were true... the opportunity to study these different cultures was at their fingertips, and Roger would bet his dwindling bank account that no one had yet begun compiling the data and documenting it.

He'd researched the crew, children, all of them years away from deserving their jobs. The Captain was twenty-five, the First Officer was a Vulcan hybrid, (all science-those people had no idea what was in front of them sometimes) and Roger had heard stories about the CMO, knew that he wasn't fit for his job anymore than any of the others were.

First chance to publish - it would be award-winning, enabling him to write his ticket any where he wanted to go, maybe even to get started on a few pet projects of his own.

So after dinner and before his assignation with the latest intern, a soft and stupid little thing who looked at him with vacuous eyes, he planned out what he was going to say in his message to Plan A

message to Tina Chapel, USS Enterprise

Tina,

I was so happy to get your message. I know things didn't end well, and that is something I have always regretted.

I've heard that there have been some interesting happenings on board your ship... but surely not as unbelievable as I've heard. Someone said they heard there were people who'd traveled through time? I can't imagine what it must be like to speak firsthand with someone from the past.

I hope life is treating you well, and that you continue to share your adventures with me. Perhaps we might even see each other soon, I would love to get together and spend some time with you again.

Roger
