Looks like Jakkal is going to have to move out of the home she had with her deceased partner thanks to his shitty family. She needs to find somewhere to go

Lawyers have told her that she only has rights to things she can prove are hers or that her name is on as a co-owner. EVERYTHING of importance was in her partner's name only and they were not married. Everything legally goes to his family as next of kin. She will be evicted by the family so they can sell the house. They've already said, they're out for the money.
The only will was a handwritten note that wasn't even signed. the lawyers she's consulted have basically said the chances of a judge upholding it are slim at best and the lowest cost to even try battling in court is 5k up front and 200/hr. She does not have that kind of money. Her partner was the main breadwinner.
this is the lawyers she's consulted for herself telling her this. Basically that even plunking down the money to have them fight for her, she still has a snowball's chance in hell of getting the will enforced. Because she's not on the house paperwork at all (ONLY the check and that can't be proven that it wasn't paid back, etc) she has no rights to any of it unless that judge actually enforces the unsigned, hand written note that serves as a will. Because it's not signed, chances of that happening are small especially since his legal next of kin have expressed desire for the possessions.
anyone thinking that it's not necessary to get married in this day and age needs to watch what's going on here.
I agree with that statement. Or at the very least, have a formal will if you have ANY property you want going to specific people.
