Wow, you did a heroic job in making this a Trek-time adaptation, and in working in so many of the characters while still keeping the spirit of the original. The premise always struck me as a little mean (the rich snob getting her comeuppance) but Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were so charming they kept it from being that way, and you succeed ably as well with keeping them both likeable. Bones with three boys is a new one--I like him as a single dad with a big family! Thanks for a very enjoyable read!

Glad you liked it.

Bones' motivation was the hardest thing to figure out because what he did was just plain mean.

And as I wrote I Jim's backstory just kept growing.

Movies get away with so much without having to explain it all!

I've honestly never seen Overboard, so I have nothing to compare this fic to.

BUT (there are always buts around Kirk and McCoy) I thoroughly enjoyed the story and felt so bad for Jim and later for Bones. Wonderful job BB. :)

Glad you liked it.

Overboard is one a cheesy 1980s rom-com that is a guilty pleasure of my. The premise is just so...wacky. I mean, who would do that to someone and get away with it?!

Thanks!

Fantastic ending and a fantastic job on the remix! You kept the parts of the story that would work for Jim and Bones and twisted them just right. I really enjoyed this!

I really like how you established the character of McCoy in the first chapter and Kirk in the second. I got a definite sense of both men and where they were in their lives, their view of the world. I think I died a little feeling the boys pain when Jim was leaving. So heart breaking. And when they get to the office building, it was both funny and really heartwarming. This was a lot of fun, and very romantic.

Thanks!

That scene with the boys chasing the limo (in the movie) always makes me cry and I just had to do it in the story. My daughter wanted a "Katerina! Arturo!" moment, but I just couldn't see it. Bones coming to NYC was as close as I could get. Glad it worked and wasn't too cheesy.

Great job of adapting the story! As you said, it's farfetched and hard to do believably, but you managed a solid plot with lots of neat touches from both Trek and the movie.
