lol - it's one of the stems for the wedding bouquets I'm making. :) They've become so pervasive around here that I didn't even stop to think that it might look odd to people who weren't surrounded by them. Towards the end of this flickr album, there's sort of a mini photo tutorial of how to make them as well as some semi-finished photos. They're very shiny. ^_^

That makeup does look really natural. Where'd ya get it?

It's from Aveda. It's kind of on the $$$ side I think, but that might be because I was buying a whole face-worth at once rather than just, you know, a new eyeshadow or lipgloss color. The good news is it's all natural organic ingredients (and smells lovely; the face powders, etc, have a hint of rosemary or mint or other "relaxing" herbs), and they're a pretty green company with a strong mission statement. I think their whole production facility is wind-powered! So, yeah, expensive, but the company has a really neat background.

They also serve you tea while you shop (it's seriously like crack. I had to go back to buy some even though it's over-priced.) and offer to perform free new-agey wellness rituals which I didn't feel the need to partake in, and they have a pretty sweet rewards program (you get 10 points per dollar, except the day you sign up when you get 20 points per dollar, and they don't expire.). Overall, I found it a lot more impressive than, say, Mary-Kay or what I'd been finding on my own at Target or Sephora.

Cool! I'd been thinking about trying some of that "mineral makeup" stuff since I hear it's good for folks with oily skin (and I come from a people that floated to this country on their own grease slick). But maybe I'll see if there's an Aveda store in the fancy-pants mall (also home of: Lush, the Apple Store, and other stores I should really avoid).

Given the other stores you listed, it's pretty likely. I found this one on my way to Sephora (happy accident, I'd say) in the new fancy section of the Natick Mall Collection, right near the Apple Store and the Lush.

I thought about the mineral stuff, too (Sally wore it for her wedding, if you want a user-opinion; it looked pretty natural, too!)...there was actually a store for that in the same vicinity at the mall, but I don't remember which brand. I'm not sure why, but I happened to wander into the Aveda before that one...seemed to work out fine!
