Ice Cream!

Apr 28, 2009 10:22

mattsachs and I have declared it officially ice cream season, and intend to go out for ice cream tonight.  Anyone interested?  The current contenders are gelato at The Danish Pastry House or J.P. Licks in Davis (both of these being walkable from our house).

it's *always* ice cream season. I'd be tickled, but I can't make it.

Seriously, this is New Enland, there is no such thing as an 'Ice Cream Season' that's like saying there's a 'Coffee Season' or a 'Scrambled Egg Season'. Makes no sense at all.

I've never gotten into the whole New England "eat ice cream in the winter" thing. My freshman roommate told me it was sort of like why a lot of cuisines near the equator revolve around "hot" food. ;)

Besides, if there's no ice cream season here...why do your dairy queens close in the winter? Craziness!

There's no ice cream season, but there is a tourist season/beach season/swimming season. A lot of ice cream places depend on beach traffic for all of their business.

However, I've never heard of a seasonal Dairy Queen. The ones where I grew up certainly weren't.

I'd love to, but I already have plans. :(

hrmmm... I probably won't be up for trekking into the city tonight (I'll probably end up eating dinner at 8:30 or later) but perhaps I will join you in spirit and get some gelato at the place near my house.

I think the solution is obvious here. Ice cream for dinner!

We're supposed to go to the gym today. What time were you planning on having a tasty frozen feast?

Probably later-ish to give it a bit of a chance to cool off. We can schedule around the gym, if you don't think it a bit too contradictory to go out for ice cream immediately after the gym. ;)

Danish Pastry House is open 'til 9, JP Licks until 11. Maybe 8:00 or so?

i'm saving my calories for cupcakes :) (for real. i figure if i'm eating sweet treats, i should stick to what i'm really craving since i'm going to eat it anyway!)

But you don't even like the cupcakes we have! You licked the frosting off of one and left the cake discarded in the trash. I hope Jeffie doesn't find out.

Sad to be otherwise occupied for the evening.
