This is a tried-and-true recipe procured from  my mom that is definitely a family tradition.  One whiff of the bourbon and cocoa combination when I was mixing these together, and I thought to myself, “Ahhh, now it smells like Christmas!”

My mom was making tons of these when I was "home" last week. The problem is, even though the recipe only calls for ¼c of bourbon, she only gets two batches per bottle for some reason.

Must be evaporation. Yeah, that's it. Evaporation. :)

Yeah, I've noticed similar problems. My coworkers also steadfastly believe that there's more than 1/4 cup of bourbon in them. Maybe my hand...slipped?

I guess the powdered sugar is supposed to look like snow, but I can't help but think they'd be better rolled in a mixture of sugar and cocoa powder.... or just cocoa powder.

I think it might partly be to make them look a bit more appetizing than lumpy brown balls... :)
