I don't drink alcohol, but this past week, after finishing a major project at the office, several of us went out to the local pub after work to drink and eat bar food! :)
I normally refrain from drinking any alcohol and usually order a Coke.
These days, I've been cutting back on the Coke because of its sugary content. I find Coke too sweet and I didn't want something sweet/sticky in my mouth.
So I opted for a beer! :) I don't know what kind of beer that I liked, so I stuck with something familiar and Canadian: a Labatt Blue!
Ya know what? The beer didn't taste that bad!
Also know what? I drank the full bottle of beer! :P :) (Normally I can't drink a full bottle of beer and I chuck/waste it!)

That's my beer story this week, Fennecy! I hope you are proud of me!!!!!
I am proud of an adventurous eagle! And I expect Canadian breweries to show up with some regularity in here. There's a number of really good ones up there. For instance, if you happen to see anything from Unibroue while you're at one of these events, give it a try - it'll definitely be a new experience for you, they're a Canadian brewery specializing in Belgian styles :)
I'm looking forward to reading your reviews. Point of fact, I've thought of posting some of my own. I, like you, am not hugely satisfied with people that have lots of... what I call 'external criteria' when it comes to beer. Or, actually, much of anything. You can get way too lost in the technical minutiae of something and lose the ability to discuss how you actually enjoyed (or didn't) that thing. Now, that doesn't mean that one can't enjoy some of the subtle variations amongst different styles of something, but the technical details should never, ever get in the way of the enjoyment of it. If it does... there's really not much point anymore.
And as you say, getting to the point where the finest beer in the world is only a B+? C'mon... Those sorts of folks need to not try to be so grown up. Or let me have their bottles of that beer... I'm sure I'd put it to good use. Lots of it.
Dieting has caused me to cut way back on my beer consumption, but I still appreciate it.
I usually like all the ones I'm not supposed to like according to the beer snobs. I say if they are so concerned about it then they can buy all my beer for me.

We totally need to get some more Three Philosophers, though! Just to, uh, be sure we like it. Yeah, that's it.

And yes, I do believe that particular beer needs to get re-examined >.>
