If your employer does not understand your emotions, you could ask a person from your support agency to speak with your employer about it. Or, if you wish to keep your condition secret, you could discuss your employment with a therapist from support and ask for advice about ways you could do your employment while not causing yourself unnecessary distress. When I started employment again, I decided to keep my condition secret from my employers, but I decided to tell my employers what limits I had. For example, I said that I would not carry heavy weights and if I felt distress, I would simply ask for an unpaid break. I'm trying to help, but you probably know better than I. Good luck.
atm my support agency IS my employer. i asked if they had anyone there that did understand agoraphobia or social anxiety more-so and he said no, they normally handle more physical disabilities. They are a disability employment network and are supposed to be my support network, but i don't see how they can help if they don't understand.
thx for the suggestions. i'll need to remember lingo like "unpaid break", i think i'll be doing that a lot.
