I had similar issues my whole life. It was a little devestating to me to have a hysterectomy, kind of the ultimate confirmation that birthing a child wouldn't happen for me. I'm lucky though with step-children and adopted children who I adore.

What a clear, open, honest piece about a subject that’s so emotional to so many people. I wish your parts had been more cooperative, but I’m glad you’re still an awesome aunt and a happy person.

I'm happy for you that you've been such a wonderful aunt. The aunt/uncle relationship can be very important, without, as you say, the hard parts of being a parent.
