SPN Ep Rxn 6.7: So Crowley is Cutler Beckett and Sam is Davy Jones and Dean is?

Nov 10, 2010 07:22

No blow-by-blow this time, just facts and musings - and a poll!

Anyway. Did Fandom call it, or what? Under the cut, fill out the spoily, spoily poll and pat yourself on the back. Or do some self-flagellation, whatever.

ANSWER THE POLL. IT'S YOUR CIVIC DUTY. )

"Blow by blow" makes me giggle like the repressed teenager that I really am.

Sam's soul is in Purgatory! I think. And that is my first theory of the season. I like Show to slap me upside the head with its crazy, rather than fixating on a possibility.

Not familiar with Dante or the Bible, but I had a vague idea of what Purgatory is supposed to mean, and it confused me too. Possibly it ties in to SPN's origin of monsters.

Of aaaaall analogies, a PR of a cow? Now that image isn't getting out of my head.

Is it wrong that I'm dying to see Robo!Sam use his powers?

I just realised this means that Crowley couldn't possibly have control over Sam's soul - because you know, he doesn't know where Purgatory is.

He's... bluffing! And I'm done, before I make more of a fool of myself. *scampers away*

AAAGH MY VIRGIN BRAIN.

But wouldn't it suck if Crowley WERE bluffing? Demons lie, right? And on SPN, if it would suck, it's got a fifty-fifty chance at happening.

The origin of monsters could be really, really fun. I'm starting to get optimistic that the show won't do something totally stupid with it.

The bovine rectal isn't getting out of my head, either!

I think Sam's soul may have something to do with angels. Balthazar looked directly at Sam when he said souls were very valuable. If angels can't know unless they do a cavity search, then Balthazar was tipped off, or had something to do with it. Wouldn't surprise me if he was working with Crowley.

Also, the cage was designed to keep Lucifer in. Doesn't mean that other creatures can't come and go as they please (if they have the juice!). Also doesn't mean that a soul like Sam's can't escape.

Interesting questions! I'm totally jazzed about the season now.

Good point! If Balthazar knew Sam was a soulless abomination, he had to have been in on it, and it would be just like Crowley to lend souls at interest. Cool!

I really wish we knew more about the nature of the Cage. The boys were treating it like a vault or a sealed bottle, but you're right, for all we know, it's a sieve.

I guessed Sam wasn't sleeping during "You can't handle the Truth." they showed him watching the video and never moving and while Dean's sheets were all rumpled, Sam's were untouched.

The sleep shirt and boxers he changed into had me fooled. I'd just thought he'd made the bed.

Once Sam gets the idea he wants to make something happen, he does what it takes to get it done. Now he doesn't have a soul to slow him down anymore.

You got that right! I can't see why or what would hold him back. I'm still thinking the powers are inside, just the opportunity has not arose to unleash them. I would enjoy him letting loose on Crowley, but not until the end of the season because I like Crowley the same way I liked Zachariah.

Sam's animated soulless carcass might turn out to be more reliable than this...

I like how you put that! LOL! I don't think Dean trusts Sam at all. He shouldn't either.

I like Sam scary and musterious. It's hot! :)

Glad you enjoyed Zachariah more than I did! I got enough of Zachariah when one of my old ministers (used car salesman in another life) got into a year-plus long verse-by-verse analysis of the Book of Zachariah. Crowley, though, Crowley's a REAL businessman.

New Sam is gorgeous to watch . . . like one of those leaping Great Whites off Seal Island. Best appreciated from a safe distance.

Linked here from spn_heavymeta.

Alphas have Mothers.

Lilith is sometimes referred to as "Mother of Demons" or "Mother of Monsters". Just sayin' :)

I can't help but feel like we still don't have all the answers. I think Crowley is bluffing about having Sam's soul: I think it's still in the Cage with Lucifer. Or else in Purgatory.

Also, it struck me after that Cas made some excuse and left immediately after he saw Christian, and he didn't find, or report finding, Crowley's mark on Samuel's soul. There are plenty of explanations for all of these things, but Cas also said he's had to do "regrettable things" and he wouldn't meet Dean's eyes when he said it. I'm wondering if Cas and Crowley are somehow supporting each other's bids for leadership.

Another question is - why are the alphas trying to raise an army, or armies? What war are they planning for?

OH MY GOSH THAT'S HORRIBLE.

Excellent points. A Crowley-Castiel alliance to keep the angels from blowing up the planet, with Sam as a pawn: no wonder Castiel tries not to answer Dean's calls! This one is definitely going on the list.

For the coming war, we have a few possible provocations:
Angels showed themselves
The demon population exploded
Tons of hunters got killed during the Rising of the Witnesses
The world almost blew up
Lilith (mother?) is dead
Wars start because there's either fear or opportunity, defense or offense. If they all come from the same Mother, they might be less inclined to make war on each-other, which leaves demons and humans as the next most likely targets, with Angels being a distant, potentially disastrous, third option - unless the Alphas know a lot of Enochian.
Maybe they're sick of lurking in the dark, or maybe they just want to stop crazy beings from destroying their habitat.
I can't wait to find out.

It is horrible, isn't it? *Chortles evilly*

I certainly wouldn't want them to make Castiel actually a bad guy (and I think the CW offices might get stormed by Cas-fans with torches and pitchforks if that happened!) but I'd love to see him being a bit more ends-justify-the-means, you know? And it seems like they are going very much for a film noir feel for this season, where everyone is a little shady, one way or another. Love it!

I really like the idea, too, that everything that happens this season is a direct result of what happened last season. They changed all the rules when they went against Destiny. Now all the rules are different, for everyone - monsters, demons, angels - can't wait to see where it goes. If the monsters are united as a faction, that could be really cool. And if Lilith was actually their Mother, and Sam killed her - well, that's some motive right there. isn't it?

One thing I wanted to add -
Once Sam gets the idea he wants to make something happen, he does what it takes to get it done. Now he doesn't have a ( ... )
