Your sentence doesn't really tell the whole story though -- I'm glad I went and read the article. I think Sarah's tendency to start talking before she figures out where the sentence is going to go makes her statements more complex and less readable, which would "boost" grade level. Also, the saddest thing is that the lede says she spoke at a 9th-grade level, while the headline says 10th grade. Someone at CNN can't read at _all_. :P
