Legend of Dragoon - Lavitz's Death
Well, Lavitz was definitely my favorite character in that game. He's a knight so he's all noble and awesome. And then he just had to go and sacrifice himself for Prince Albert. Well, my jaw kind of hung open and I just shut off the game and refused to play it for a few months. Yup.
Shadow of the Colossus - ending
Zomg. This was a very heart-wrenching game all around. Some of the monsters you kill were actually kind of peaceful (the flying one over the desert springs to mind) and you have to kill them all in order to save your loved one. Each time you defeat one of those monsters, you look worse and worse while your loved one looks more alive. But what really got to me was when the tribesmen stop the emerged evil god, and the well starts to suck in all shadowy evil, including yourself. And you tumble and tumble for the well, trying to hold onto ANYTHING to save yourself, but even if you find a good spot to stay safe, the game won't end unless you're sucked into the hole. It's inevitable. And you hold onto the well's edge desperately, watching your grip meter deplete and finally, you're sucked in, gone. I thought that was a really sad scene, made more poignant when you're in control of Wander but even so, you can't stop what needs to be done.
