Ape Escape
I think this was the very first game on the original Playstation that actually had a use for the second analog stick of the Dualshock controller. You would use the left stick to move your guy, and the right stick is for using your gadgets, like an RC Car, laser sword, and according to Wikipedia, there was a hula-hoop type weapon. It was a pretty unique game at the time, so I thought that should have a mention.

Lost Vikings
I was blown away by this game's gameplay. You have three vikings, Erik the Swift, Baelog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout who have been kidnapped and get lost through different eras. Their goal is to solve many puzzles to get back to their own period. Each viking has their own skills that you have to utilize to get through the puzzles: Erik can charge at and break walls, as well as jump. Baelog can kill thing with his sword and use a bow and arrow. And Olaf has a shield which can let him hang glide, shield his buddies from projectiles, or be used as a footstool. I thought this game was really fun and it was my first time playing something like this, where each person had their own unique skill that was essential to completing the game. Of course, I also loved Animaniacs for the Sega Genesis, which took the same concept but applied them to Yakko, Wacko, and Dot.

Okami
Of course, this had to be mentioned. Using the Celestial Brush to paint things like bombs and slash at enemies is just plain fun. I thought it was very well executed on the PS2 and I'm sure that it was just perfect for the Wii. I also loved just running through the fields as Amaterasu. It really gives you a sense of freedom.

Pilotwings 64
Speaking of freedom, I really only liked playing the Birdman mode in this game. You could just aimlessly fly around the stage and do whatever the hell you wanted. I'm sure the rest of the game is fun but this was the only mode I liked playing.
