Punk Rock?

Lately i've been pondering this whole punk rock thing. I remember watching something on tv the other day and listening to somebody talk about how green day sucked because they became corporate. Duh? do you punk rock jackasses think that these guys are making this music just to make music? The ultimate goal is always to capitalize and make money ( Read more... )

My brother is like that, it really irks me. Seriously, it's so stupid! It's kind of like all of the people who dress in extreme punk or goth because they're against looking like everyone else...but yet, they do look like a million other people. They usually travel in groups just as big as "preppy groups" or bigger. Grrr, grow up! Just a little support for you Ray :-) ~Steph

Punk music was started by people who did it just for the love of the music, so what people mean by going "corporate" or "selling-out" is that they've left their roots. It used to be that at a show you'd have 500 or so people in the crowd singing along and going all out in circle pits, but now it's about how many shirts you buy and no one even knows what a circle pit is anymore. If a band wants to do it for the money that's fine, but don't say you're in it for the fans and the music.

Likewise, emo is a lifestlye, like straight-edge or jock. It's evolved into a music genre and that's what most people know it as.

No offense, but sometimes things take a little research.

If you ever listened to "the obscure bands that nobody knows about" you would realize they are actually really good. And I'm glad that the radio hasn't discovered them because the radio ruins any good song ever made. But I agree with you on the fact that its annoying if you like a song and people yell at you for not being a "true fan". I mean, who cares? I have the right to only like one song from a band. I don't have to be a hard-core lover of some band just to have the right to like one of their songs.

Personally... it's a bunch of hub-bub and shit! I always aaaaaaaaaaaaalways get ripped on for just liking one song and not knowing about the whole fucking group or the rest of their tunes for that matter. I like you.... and your opinion LMAO! And I agree that half of the not well known bands suck and maybe that's just simply why they aren't known.... because THEY SUCK! But there will always be those people to say Gee... I liked them and listened to them before they became popular and now I don't because everyone else likes them. WHO THE FUCK CARES?!?! It goes hand in hand with the "freak" style of clothing. They don't want to be like other people sooo they seem to "all dress the same" in black and S&M types of chains and clothing accessories. That right there... THAT MAKES ME WANNA RIP MY EYES OUT! If you are going to be different, than be different with your personality... not become different to really only become the mirror image of a peer. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!
