Study Session

Some people preferred to study in a place where there were minimal distractions. The more stark, plain, and depopulated an area, the easier it was to concentrate. For Orihime, it was the opposite. She liked the background sounds of cheerful chatter punctuated by a bright laugh, and a comfortable booth to squeeze into, and most of all, the good ( Read more... )

The place definitely smelt good - that alone put Duo in a good mood. Studying sessions weren't his favorite things in the world, but Physics weren't that bad, the shop was promising and he enjoyed Orihime's company. It was going to be a nice afternoon.

Once inside, he took off his sunglasses and looked around. It wasn't difficult to find that orange head, Duo quickly made his way to the table. "Hey there, missy!"

It figured that the one bell she dismissed would be the one heralding her schoolmate's appearance. She snapped her head up at the sound of his voice, and was suddenly all smiles. "Afternoon, Maxwell-kun!" she greeted him with a salute.

For some reason.

"I got some of the cheese danishes for us, but I didn't order your tea since I didn't want it to get cold if you wound up being late. Please dig in!" She closed her history textbook and hauled out the massive monster bearing 'Physics' on its spine. "Make yourself comfortable, ha ha!"

Murphy's law, it never fails. Duo drops his old backpack on the free chair and sits across from her. "Ya can call me Duo, y'know. An' that's alright, I'm a coffee man."

And digging in he does, making 'yummy sounds' in admiration. "This is awesome, ya definitely know how to please my stomach, 'Hime." With the pastry hanging from his mouth, he waves at a random waiter to ask for coffee, and then takes out his own Physics book, which is doodled all over. He wasn't kidding when he said he got bored at class.

"Hou! You're an artist!" Orihime laughed, noticing the doodled textbook. The teacher was probably going to yell at him for that. It looked awesome to her, though! As for the pastries, she waved off the compliment quickly. "No no no, I can't take credit for these. I didn't make them! Cakes are more my specialty."

Maybe she'd make one for him sometime. If they wound up studying at her house, definitely!

She followed suit, cracking open her book to find the designated chapter for study...and glancing up at him again with a blink when she realized he'd asked her to address him by his first name. Was...was that really okay? It seemed kind of intimate! ...Never mind that he called her 'Hime with friendly affection, this was different!
