“…carried no enchantment at all. The end.”

Draco watched from the doorway as his wife concluded the story and gently closed The Tales of Beedle the Bard. She gazed lovingly upon the angelic face of Scorpius, cuddling the sleepy toddler close.

He swallowed hard as he once again remembered how close he had come to never having this, never having them.

“Happy Christmas, Draco.”

Broken from his reverie, he looked at his family, their forms illuminated by the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree and the roaring fire. His grey eyes warmed with emotion as he replied, “Happy Christmas, Pansy.”

A/N: The partial sentence at the beginning is a direct quote from “The Fountain of Fair Fortune” from The Tales of Beedle the Bard. (According to Amazon, anyway.)
