She sat on the floor, lost amidst boxes of glass balls and coloured lights as the fire crackled cheerily and the Wireless played Christmas favorites. She could almost smell her late mother’s freshly baked gingerbread drifting in from the kitchen.
Almost.
“Hermione!” Ron’s intrusive whine stretched out her name to eight syllables. “Why can’t we just conjure fairy lights like normal people?”
She smiled indulgently. “Because, luv, half the fun of decorating the tree is stringing the lights.”
His pout rivaled that of their godson's. “With all your reading, you should have discovered the definition of ‘fun’ long before this.”
