Minerva looked around the room at the former students she now regarded as equals. James, Lily, and their irascible companions finished one last carol in the flickering firelight. The evening had been a lovely respite, indeed.
“I must go,” she said reluctantly.
“A word, Minerva.” Sirius Black guided her by the elbow into the foyer.
Minerva turned to face him, startled to see enchanted mistletoe hovering over him.
“Mr Black! How much mead have you consumed?”
Sirius slid his arm around her waist, drew her close, and kissed her lustily.
Goosebumps rose under her tartan when he said, “None.”
