Standing outside in the cold December air, Hermione thought of the things that life could’ve been. She’d chosen to mourn a dead man instead of marrying a passing fling. She wasn’t cruel enough to marry a man when her heart belonged to someone else.
Looking up at the sky, she found the North Star and with the faith of a child who still believed in Santa Claus, she closed her eyes and made her Christmas wish.
She felt the swirl of magic around her. Opening her eyes, she found the greasy-haired, hooked nose man of her dreams.
And she smiled.
