The summer after my freshman year, I worked full time and took a class. I was very diligent in doing my work, unlike during regular term-time. This bothered me somewhat, because I was putting in about fifty or so hours of work between work and school (plus transportation time) with absolutely no motivational problems, but had to beat myself

I have much, MUCH more motivation for my job than I ever did about school or personal projects. I think it's about "responsibility to others" v. "responsibility to self" -- the latter has just never been all that compelling to me.
