Thank you for the perspective on LA politics. I had completely overlooked that and was thinking primarily of the politics in D.C. But, of course, nearly all of the politicians in D.C. have to consider local matters. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out in LA politics. I will trust your suspicions because 1) you know these people better, and 2) they are politicians. Additionally, now that they are projecting fewer deaths and quicker water pumping times, I am skeptical as to the original estimates.

As annoying as I find the rapid increase in gasoline prices, I do not consider it to be a bad event in the long run. Perhaps this line of thinking causes me to disregard the price factor much more than others are willing to. But, then again, I would actually be surprised if the tax cuts were repealed.
