Reunion

The platform was packed with chattering, rushing, hugging kids and chattering, rushing, hugging parents saying goodbye to their offspring with both sadness and relief. Remy had said his own goodbyes at least twenty minutes beforehand and was now stood anxiously beside the carriage he had texted Danny to say he would be besides. After six weeks of ( Read more... )

Danny actually arrived about ten minutes later than usual, and his formal and quiet goodbyes with his parents took place in private before he headed to the platform. Remy would be waiting ( ... )

Pick him out he did - though Remy's gaze passed over the quiet boy twice in his haste to find him, the third time his sight locked on to the Ravenclaw, and he made a beeline for him. In a hasty, garish Gryffindor display of affection, Remy siezed his boyfriend in his arms, kissed him full on the mouth and beamed at him, all in two seconds of breathless rush.

"Dan! You made it, you're here! How are you? Come on, let's grab a carriage before they're all taken, I'll take your bag, come on let's - how are you? Fuck, I've missed you!"

Did the boy not ever breathe?

"I'm, um, I'm okay," Danny stammered, red in the face from Remy's enthusiastic greeting. People were staring, he knew it. Boys? Kissing? In public?? The redhead flushed and rubbed the back of his neck nervously, willing the disapproving voice in his head to shut the hell up.

"Yeah, sorry I'm late," he said, following Remy, but carefully not touching him. "I couldn't find things at the last minute, and then mother made me wait to say goodbye to Richard." With the bags on board, the two of them looked for an open compartment, and found one near the back of the train. Danny slipped in and curled up next to the window, hands clutching a book by Kant as if it were a talisman.

"Well, you're here now and that's what matters." Remy didn't seem to have noticed that Danny had not been touching him - he was too excited by the fact that Danny was back at all to really care.

They ducked into the compartment and Remy lounged out on the seats beside Danny, head back against the head rest, feet stretching out onto the seats opposite. He smiled sidelong at the boy and gently rubbed his knee, warm and affectionate and more than happy to be back with this boy once more. "Hey. I missed you." He beamed, all of a sudden. "You're looking real good, you know. I love the hair - suits you!"

"Um, actually... yeah. He's, you know. He's supposed to be really good at -- at 'curing' people."

"Well fuck that for a game of soldiers." Remy grinned, and on impulse leant over, siezing his boyfriend around the waist and tugging him back to lay again his warm, solid chest. "Who needs to get cured from what we have? It's pretty damn good in my opinion." He beamed and ran his hand through Dannys hair affectionately, enjoying the weight of the younger boy against him. "The bloke's probably a repressed queer himself. Jealous of handsome young men like you getting what he can't have, is all."

The Gryffindor did not seem fazed by Dannys admission of what sort of shrink he was seeing. In fact, he was honestly quite amused by it - various thoughts of ways to reunite Danny with the 'dark side' were currently threading their way through his pretty head, bound to be full of afternoons and evenings spent in heavy, Silenced beds and locked rooms with pianos in. Well, it wasn't like Remy didn't like a challenge, after all.

Danny pushed away from Remy, flushing and feeling slightly made fun of. "Stop it," he said. "I don't need you to try and make me feel better about how I spent my summer, okay? I'm doing fine. And can you just -- not in public? Please?"

"What?" This was the first time Remy had really looked surprised by Danny in this whole conversation, and he gaped for a moment, not exactly having expected his boyfriend to tear himself away in such a sudden movement.

"But we're not in public. And you love me holding you." He frowned. "Don't tell me they've got you believing that nutjob, Dan? I mean--" He floundered, "You're better than that!"

"He wasn't a nutjob," Danny said. "He actually made... a lot of sense, some of the time." The redhead rubbed at his forearm, frowning and looking away from Remy. "And he listened to me. He didn't -- talk over me, like everyone else." It was obvious that this was what had made such an impression on the young man.

As for them not being in public... "Anyone could walk into this compartment at any time," Danny pointed out. "It's public. Nobody HAS to sit anywhere. So it counts." He let out a long sigh before running his hands through his hair. "I don't know what I think any more."

"I'm not wound up," Danny protested, but the fact was that he had a huge knot between his shoulders already from stress. "I just...." he didn't even know what he just was, so he decided to say nothing.

Relaxing into the seat, he sighed and closed his eyes. "You're right."

"You know I am." Remy's voice was softer now, admittedly somewhat surprised that Danny had just told him he was right. Of course he always acted like that was the case, but to hear it from the horses mouth never failed to touch him.

He slid slightly closer, slightly hesistant, unsure of how to approach his boyfriend now that his view of things had changed. "Can I -- put my arm around you?"

"Yes," Danny said, leaning against the Gryffindor. "I don't mind." He was almost worn out from their talking, almost tired and ready to sleep on the train to school.

"... Did you have a nice summer? I don't remember."

Permission was granted and Remy took it eagerly, sliding his arms gently around his boyfriend to tug him closer, warmer against his chest. One hand came up, gently rubbing at pale cheek for a moment before draping across Dannys waist.

"Yeah, I had a good one." His voice was softer, deeper, warmer with contentment. "Spent a whole bunch on the water, whole bunch with Zak and Jesse - whole bunch thinking about you. Pretty good, all in all." Remy smiled, very softly, just glad to be sitting here like this with the boy he loved. "Did you?"
