Graeco Roman, Graeco Kemetic Polytheists...

lend me your ears-I had a thought as i sat at my desk this evening-

Perhaps we should honor the Pythia and give her honors. I realize that there were many Pythias, but what if we symbolically honor her as an individual or individuals what ever works-

Thoughts???? Ideas???

Am I nuts?

Hrm, this is complicated for me, seeing as how I feel a very strong connection to the Pythia, not so much as worshiping or honoring them, but as in feeling that I'm a...descendant of them so to speak. I think they do deserve honors, but not as a single entity, but as a group. It could go hand in hand with a prayer to Apollo. Basically a prayer to Apollo and then ..I want to say "dedication", something along the lines of "to the Pythia, past present and future, we honor you and thank you for your guidance, and pray that our Lord Apollo grants you his blessings." or something like that.
I dunno.

I'm not sure either, to be honest-
But i was thinking that while Jesus is probably a culmination of various other Deities and prophets or wise men what ever you wish, Perhaps keep that in the back of our minds, that while Pythia was a group of oracles perhaps we can honor them in any way that works-I mean perhaps as a single entity, or as a entity of many voices-

I just feel that she or they whichever works for anyone-should be honoured, I mean i was thinking perhaps honoring Pythia as an embodiment of voices if that makes sense?

perhaps something like, Pythia, oracle of many voices, we honor you....something like that too maybe-i haven't worked it all out-

i don't actually pay formal cultus to the pythias (although i probably should, i must ponder that) but i do give occasional spontaneous prayers and thanks to 'em. always as a group. i don't know how it would work to do it with one single pythia, unless one were to make herself known to me and request this.

not as a single but an embodiment of all of them and realize that they served the gods-

You're not nuts. We should sing her/their praises. But also we should continue in that tradition in our own ways, assuming we're willing to try divination. Why should it remain a dead art or be considered not reconstructionist. I say go for it.

That's what I'm saying!

I think that there were many and we may never know all hte great pythiai, why not honor the embodiment of Pythia of the ancients-Pythia as enbodyment of ALL the Pythiai!
