Well its official, Big Brother can now legally and openly wiretap every citizen in the country without a warrant and the telecoms have been granted immunity. For the past few years there have been those of us who were aware President Bush's Homeland Security-BS has performed illegal wiretapping in the name of fighting terrorism. If things do become outrageously out of hand, we always have the option of moving to another country. America isn't the only world power that has nuclear capabilties.

I think that this country will be much safer with the Government tapping our lines legally. *shrugs*

This was such bullshit from the get go. Warrants aren't heard to get. Most judges are sympathetic to law enforcement, and don't ask a lot of questions. So it's a fair bet the purposes of these taps weren't matters of urgent security.

Then Bush pushed for the full on package continuation through congress for means of 'national security', they didn't buy it and even offered the vital to security bits in the interim, but he refused that just to get his way, jeopardizing any actual security gains for dickery.

Then this pardon happened, concerning ANYTHING the telecoms may have done... without specifying what exactly illegal thing they did.
