We've been trying to ignore the heat and get things done, as well as keep busy, me moving and find interesting things to do.
So we went back to New Windsor this morning. Why? Well partly because I barely got any shots of the beautiful, fairly well maintained houses (most of them are well maintained and gorgeous). Partly because SERRV is having a sale Wed-Friday and with LeKid's bday coming up... she was hoping that the tea set she fell for would be on sale.
She was up at five and dragged me out of bed at seven so we were in New Windsor at 8:30am, and the store opened at 9:30. Yes, early but that was compromise. We'd both walk and talk while I got my photos. And then we'd hit the store.
We walked down from the Old Calvert College Campus and along upper Main Street, which I had not gotten before. Monday I got lower Church street, part of lower Main, and a bit of High St. In the hour or so we walked the temp rose from mid 80's to 93 and sweltering due to mugginess. It did not help that LeKid told me the time was ten minutes later than it was so we started pushing it on the walk back up the hills toward the campus.
But the houses were worth it! Like I said gorgeous. And I'm working on getting them up at PhotoBucket.
The shop was awesome. 75% off merchandise and there was a lot. Kid made out like bandit. I had a set budget - in cash. No debit card. No checks. If we did not have the cash we would not get. Original total on stuff - almost 200. She got her tea set. I fell for another (which started cheaper but was still pricier than I would have gotten otherwise). She got a pair of cross necklaces and a pair of cross earrings. No the earrings do not match either necklace but... hey she likes all of them and together they actually look interesting. We got matching heavy silk scarves. And tea. Oh yeah. a bunch more tea. Just what this house needs.
Twas fun. The shopping through the store. The walking around old New Windsor. The sitting on the hilltop and catching breath while staring out over valley and talking about nonsense. A well spent day for both of us.
