True story. When I came across this 'fic, my reactions kind of went thusly: (glancing at journal) 1) Is that a KHR tag I see? OH, sweet. ronsard wrote KHR again. Superb. But, alas, it's probably a popular-esque dude/dude pairing [not that I have anything whatsoever against slash but IT IS KIND OF REPRESENTED IN THIS FANDOM IN GENERAL]. 2) WOW WAIT IS THAT A MENTION OF CHROME I SEE. THIS JUST GOT 10X MORE AMAZING... 3) M.M/Chrome. Wait. What? 4) Moment of conflict with 6996 OTP. Is this going to cause me pain in that oh-god-my-OTP-ends-very-badly-here way? 5) But of course I know by this point that I'll read it anyway, since it's ronsard and femmeslash and Chrome, all things to which I am instinctively drawn.

Others have pointed out how intelligent and sensual and gorgeous the whole thing is. I love your femmeslash because of the way you describe the mixture of the emotions and physicality -- it's all very, well, feminine and soft and strong and closed off in its own way from the man's mafia world these two inhabit. How you wrong me :( I don't write popular-esque dude/dude pairings. These days, I only write obscure, unpopular dude/dude pairings. But yes, KHR is basically a sausage fest. You know there's a problem when your attempt at femmeslash involves a character who barely has a role in the story. (Not that it's ever stopped me before.)

No, I understand OTP rage perfectly. I have also had moments of, "She's pairing him with who? Oh now it is on like Donkey Kong." Teeth-gnashing usually ensues. But the theme of this Summer Fest was Good Things Come In Three or something like that, and I really, really didn't want to do another "Naruto is with A/B/X but still pines for Sasuke" like everyone told me I should. Well hey, I got nthcoincident to read it, and she isn't much more willing to sunder 6996 than you are

I can see why you would have a hard time feeling the NaruSasu buzz in light of current manga canon, though. Since, uh. It is basically "Naruto the creepy stalker who won't respect no means no from Sasuke" and "Sasuke the guy who wants to kill Naruto and pals". I'm all for effed up pairings, but it's sort of ... difficult to reconcile Sasuke SECRETLY HAVING ANY LIKING AT ALL of Naruto at this point

Naruto's continued devotion to Sasuke is reaching mental disorder levels as well. That boy ain't right. Why do people keep following him?

Women, in particular, need a space where they can weep and shout. There could be more shouting and less weeping in these fics, though.

Yeah, by "concrete presence" I probably meant that he will, you know, actually be in the fic, and maybe even have lines. I have nfc what he would do if he were released for good behavior (lol) either. He wants to take over the world... or something? Maybe he spends his time rehearsing for this by playing Risk. Or haunting the Vivienne Westwood boutiques. I have a theory that Mukuro only keeps M.M. around because she is his personal shopper. (The real question is... who did Chrome's hair? At some point before the TYL time period she obviously came to her senses...)

That's basically the only sn_exchange entry I've actually read through (have looked at the art, though). I don't have much time myself, and I'm already way behind on a lot of stuff. Sob, world, stop spinning for a day so I can geek to my heart's content.

Thank you. And no, why would it be out of line? I'm v. v. intrigued, but I haven't kept up with KHR in awhile, and I can't think of any particular pairing other than this one that I could conceivably write :(

Well, signups are open until the end of the month (next Wednesday) if you change your mind. The challenge also allows for genderbent!guys, so you wouldn't have to feel pressed to write a canon!girl paring (or work with any of the newer characters). But thanks for your consideration, anyway.
