From what I've seen, quite a number of y'all Brits take issue with Glee. I heard that when it was first imported the marketing campaign was extremely aggressive, which prob didn't help. Ahahaha, that is supremely ironic b/c Glee is supposedly a feel-good show. It doesn't make me feel particularly good either. Too saccharine.
Well, as a corollary I've heard people express similar opinions about Skins which I really like but is itself over the top in a... different way. Obviously it's found its market though, as they've remade the first series into a US version. Same plots and everything :|
It's completely hilarious and I regret that I've only started watching it recently in my defense I'm just getting back into television after a long bout of I Can't Be Fucked. One thing that I dislike about Glee is the ultra-focus on a few members of the cast while ignoring the rest except for the occasion limelight episodes. Diversity Award winning show? Well, okay.
This is such a nostalgia trip my mouth is still hanging open! Is this the series that contains the story called, if I recall correctly, "The Boil on Ruth's Cheek?" That story drove my fourth grade self to outright hysterics and ummm still induces bouts of paranoia whenever I find anything ~untoward~ on my face, ngl.
Nothing to say about Glee except do not under any circumstances engage in involved discussions with vocal fans, but you knew that already :)
Yes, that one! I like to think that story was a dig at puberty, maybe that's just because it gave me an irrational fear of acne. Or you know, more irrational than the usual quota. I found it on Creepy Pasta years later and instantly recognized it, shame I couldn't find the illustration. Oh no, found it!
Although no. 20 of your icons is sort of fuckishly adorable, I have to say, what is it doing? It looks like it's about to give someone a very unwanted hug. I think there was also the story of the girl with the ribbon around her neck, unless I'm just completely deluded...? That one always seemed like a metaphor for something too. Secrecy and the ~frail thread by which it hangs~ in relationships, perhaps.
You should know better, young lady :( I'm using it as a distraction from Naruto fic that's kept me busy for four straight months, everyone needs to write something stupid now and again. It's definitely a novelty to write for a well-known pairing, too... My interest has taken a sharp, sharp drop of late when they messed with Take Me or Leave Me ;______;
By 20 I assume you mean 15 with the grinning marshmallowy thing. It could be a creepy version of Casper, or possibly the Pillsbury Dough Boy, y'think? Some of these are cute in a freaky way, like that floating ghoul with the huge head chasing the little person, I have no idea what that is but it makes me smile.
Yes, that story is part of this collection! It's The Red Ribbon or something. I remember reading a book with a similar story except it was a scarf, assuming it wasn't the same author how did that get published? There's a bit of narm in that story at the end, when the husband takes off the ribbon and her head pops off, a big tear falls from her eyes and she shrieks, "I warned you!" I lol'd.
Sell-out. I don't want even to know -- part of my dislike has to do with all the classic songs that this show has, uh, I don't want to say ruined but that is totally what it is. This coming from a former huge fan of Grey's Anatomy.
oh my god scary stories to tell in the dark!!! terrified me as a kid. i remember in the third grade i check out one of the books from the library before i bought my own copies and just looking at the cover down from my bed kept me up all night! esp the story about the toe... and someone in the backseat of the car and ;A;
also your feelings about glee are pretty much mine i can't.... i really can't like it no matter how much i tried but lots of my friends like it and i'm not like omg u suck at them cause they do??? but i really don't like it orz
I read library copies first as well and immediately was compelled to buy my own. These made me shit bricks as a kid, actually still freak me out a lot too haha. Yeeessss the backseat story, so scary T____T
I won't judge, everyone can like what they want and I can intellectually see the appeal but on a guts level I'm just not feelin' it. Which is problematic b/c Glee is apparently all about ~*feelings*~
every time i am driving really late at night alone (which is often damn why all my friends have to live deep in the scary ass nobody is here maybe WOODS) i always remember that story and cannot look into my rearview mirror sometimes i quickly check the backseat before i take off JUST IN CASE (even though i know if someone is there it probably mean a KNIFE STAB INTO MY FACE ah fuck)
yeah, i always hear the "but it's satire!" defense but the way ppl take it as... not satire idefk and how my feelings during and after watching an ep is usually embarrassment and aggravation = yeah never mind (OR IS THAT THE SATIRE WORKING???) >___>"
