NaNoWriMo Musings

Nov 01, 2003 19:29

I have created a separate journal for my work in progress. Since I am a suspicious person by nature, I have some questions about posting my efforts for public view.

Please, take a moment to complete this poll and help a paranoid katzen to make up her mind.

If you want to publish, hon, you need to be very, very careful about posting your story. Most publishers don't even want to touch them if they've been online. So I would suggest if you want to publish to defintely friendslock!

See? I knew someone would come to my rescue and make sure I don't do something incredibly stoopid.

Thanks, Dolimir--not only for the advice, but for suggesting that my humble efforts might ever be considered for publication. :-)

I don't know if this will help, but if I was writing fanfic for my NaNo, I'd probably post it, but since I'm working on original fic I won't post it. I may post scenes and snippets.

I'm working on original fiction, too...non-slash and hopefully interesting reading. *snerk*

I don't want to make it available for just 'anyone' to read, but I would like some constructive criticism and support.

Thanks for your input, Maria. :-)

I'd love to do what I can to help ya. I liked the snippet that Connie sent me. Did you start another LJ or are you refering to your website?

Online pubbing counts as first region rights, so if you think you want to sell what you right, then you should friendslock.

I'll be posting mine on separate webpage, availible publically. I have no intentions of trying to see what I write, so I have no fears of online publishing. However I'm not sure I can deal with comments, even positive ones while it's going on so I opted for a webpage rather than an LJ.

I'll be curious to see your efforts at the end. I won't ge following oalong on anyone else's stories until I finish mine, but I am excited to see them all aftet that!

Thanks, jacyn. I don't harbor any illusions that my first effort will be of interest to publishers, but it's so cool to consider this as an achievable goal. :-)
